Young Lawyers Section
About the Young Lawyers Section The Young Lawyers Section (YLS) of the Monroe County Bar Association is dedicated to service, education, and community-building activities for young attorneys in the Greater Rochester area. YLS members work closely with Rochester’s Teen Court, an alternative sentencing system for non-violent youth offenders. Section members serve as mediators at the Teen Court, and the section hosts a major annual fundraiser for the court. YLS also hosts a number of continuing legal education sessions for its members each year, in which lawyers and judges present on legal topics of special interest to new attorneys. In addition, in furtherance of its mission of building greater community among young members of the bar, YLS hosts frequent social events, often in collaboration with other young professionals organizations in Rochester. YLS membership is open to MCBA members admitted less than 10 years or under the age of 36. The Young Lawyers Section (YLS) of the Monroe County Bar Association has been working to expand and update the CLEs offered to new admittees, and those interested in obtaining some introductory knowledge in areas in which they do not normally practice.
We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming CLEs for this year and welcome your input on topics you would like to see in the future.
