Volunteer Legal Service Project and Legal Aid Collaborate with Local Bars and NYSBA Young Lawyers to Provide Pro Bono Legal Assistance to Deferred Action Eligible Youth October 5, 2012 Local Youth who are eligible for the Deferred Action Program for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) will have the opportunity to receive free legal assistance by trained attorneys at a community workshop on Saturday, October 20, at the Telesca Center for Justice. Monroe County Bar Association Hires Marketing Specialist and Communications Coordinator September 14, 2012 The Monroe County Bar Association announces the addition of two new team members to its staff. Merritt Smith joins as Marketing Specialist and Dajaneé Parrish joins as Communications Coordinator. Groundbreaking Ceremony - Telesca Center for Justice Phase II June 27, 2012 After several years of planning, Phase II of the Telesca Center for Justice Co-location initiative has begun with the renovation of the 8th floor reception area, and the renovation of the ground floor lobby, which will begin next week. The renovation of the ground floor lobby will remove the inoperative escalators, create needed office space for one of the civil legal service partners, and create a space that will honor the hundreds of donors that made this vision a reality. The vision was that of the late Hanna Cohn, former Executive Director of Volunteer Legal Services Project. Hanna's vision was one of collaboration among the bar association and the legal service providers, and provided the spirit for the effort to collocate Foundation Awards $40,000 in Grants June 8, 2012 ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Foundation of the Monroe County Bar today announced the award of seven grants totaling $40,000 to support programs that benefit not only the legal community, but the community as a whole. US District Court Awards Grant to the Foundation of the Monroe County Bar September 19, 2011 Rochester City School students and minority law students will benefit from a $15,000 grant from the United States District Court for the Western District of New York.
