The overwhelming majority of lawyers who practice in Rochester
or in our Monroe County suburbs, as well as members of our
Judiciary, comprise a dynamic and community minded group known
at the Monroe County Bar Association. Our 2200+ members
actively demonstrate their committment to serving both the
interests of the legal community, and the interests of
all who reside in our upstate community and who cherish
the social order that the law provides. I am privileged
to be a member of this Association and to serve as its President
in this 2007-2008 bar year.
On any given day, MCBA members may be found engaging in volunteer
tasks such as:
- mentoring
grammar school kids in one of Rochester's inner city schools
as part of our Lawyers for Learning program;
- advising
high school students in preparing for MCBA-sponsored mock
trial competition;
- serving
their colleagues as teachers in one of the MCBA's many,
highly regarded Continuing Legal Education seminars; or
- brainstorming
with other members and Association staff at meetings of
the more than 30 committees and sections of the MCBA.
Throughout
its 115 year existence, the Monroe County Bar has earned statewide
and national recognition as an innovative leader among
local voluntary bars. The MCBA's recent success in uniting
the Association and all Rochester area legal services providers
under a single roof in the Telesca Center for Justice in downtown
Rochester is the latest example of our transforming a vision
into reality.
We trust you will find the MCBA's website useful and informative. Thanks
for your interest. |
