Young
Lawyers membership is open to members admitted less than 10 years
or under the age of 36.
The
Young Lawyers Section (YLS) of the Monroe County Bar Association
has been working to expand and update the CLEs offered to new admittees,
and those interested in obtaining some introductory knowledge in
areas in which they do not normally practice.
This
past year, the YLS decided to break up the all day CLE they had
historically offered, into shorter CLEs, broken down by topic.
This has allowed new practitioners to pick and choose the CLE topics
that are most valuable to them and their practice. This new
series has been named the “Nuts and Bolts” series. So far,
YLS CLEs have covered “Ethics,” a “Residential Real Estate Transaction”
(3 part series), the “Basics of Estate Planning,” and “Criminal
Law 101.”
For
this upcoming year, the YLS is currently in the process of planning
another 3 part CLE which will cover a civil litigation, from commencement
to summary judgment. In addition, other CLEs coming down the
pipe include those geared towards business law topics, basic accounting
principles for attorneys, and a writing and research CLE.
We
look forward to seeing you at the upcoming CLEs for this year and
welcome your input on topics you would like to see in the future.
