This guide has been written to provide Monroe County legal and human services professionals and the community-at-large information to make appropriate referrals to non-profit agencies and offices providing direct and indirect legal services. The majority of services listed are offered to the public on a low or no fee basis, with personal income as the most common criterion for determining client eligibility. In cases where a person's income or asset level exceeds the established maximum, contact with a private attorney should be made. Legal referrals can be obtained through the Lawyer Referral & Information Service. This guide was orginally published in March 2000 by the President's Commission on Access to Legal Services of the Monroe County Bar Association and funded by a grant from the Foundation of the Monroe County Bar. We hope that this guide is of assistance to you.
