Strategic Plan

This guide has been written to provide Monroe County legal and human services professionals and the community-at-large information to make appropriate referrals to non-profit agencies and offices providing direct and indirect legal services.

The majority of services listed are offered to the public on a low or no fee basis, with personal income as the most common criterion for determining client eligibility. In cases where a person's income or asset level exceeds the established maximum, contact with a private attorney should be made. Legal referrals can be obtained through the Lawyer Referral & Information Service.

This guide was orginally published in March 2000 by the President's Commission on Access to Legal Services of the Monroe County Bar Association and funded by a grant from the Foundation of the Monroe County Bar.

We hope that this guide is of assistance to you. We are most anxious to provide you with the best possible information on available legal services and would appreciate your comments where descriptions offered are not in accord with services listed, or if certain services familiar to you do not appear. Only through cooperative efforts can we provide accurate information that will assist in making you more aware of the availability of legal assistance. Feel free to contact us.
